Finance
Equipment and machinery finance
Plant, tools and fit out, financed without touching your overdraft.
Buying equipment out of working capital is the quiet way businesses run themselves short. Financing the asset over the years it earns for you leaves the overdraft where it belongs, which is covering the gap between doing the work and being paid for it.
Throughout New Zealand I have financed commercial kitchens and ovens, scissor lifts, wood chippers, excavators, and guillotines and presses. If it is a productive asset with a serial number, it is very likely financeable.
What I finance under this
- Excavators, loaders and earthmoving plant
- Scissor lifts, telehandlers and access equipment
- Commercial kitchens, ovens and refrigeration
- Guillotines, presses and workshop machinery
- Wood chippers, mulchers and arborist gear
- IT, point of sale and fit out for a new site
Where you can buy it
- An equipment dealership
- A direct import
- An auction or a liquidation sale
- A sale and leaseback of plant you already own
What to have ready
None of this is needed to get started. Having it to hand is simply what turns a two day answer into a same day one.
- 1. Your New Zealand Business Number, or the company name
- 2. The last two years of financial statements, or your latest management accounts
- 3. Six months of business bank statements
- 4. A quote or invoice for the asset
Repayments
Try the numbers for this
Set the price and the deposit you are thinking about, and see what the weekly figure looks like.
What would the repayments be?
Move the numbers around and see what changes. Nothing here is sent to me, and none of it is an offer of finance.

Questions
Before you apply
How long does an application take?
A pre approval is usually back within one business day, and often the same day if we have everything we need. From accepting an offer to money reaching the seller is typically one to three business days, depending on the lender and on how quickly the seller can provide their details.
Can I get finance before I have found the vehicle?
Yes, and it is the better order to do it in. A pre approval tells you exactly what you can spend and what the repayments look like, so you can negotiate as a cash buyer. Pre approvals normally hold for 30 to 60 days depending on the lender.
What do you need from me?
Photo identification, three months of bank statements, and proof of income, which is two recent payslips for most people or last year accounts if you are self employed. If you have already found the asset, send us the listing or the invoice as well.
What interest rate will I get?
It depends on your credit file, the asset, the term and the size of your deposit, which is why we do not publish a single headline number. The calculator on this site uses an indicative rate so you can see the shape of the repayments. The rate in your written offer is the real one.
What fees are there?
Typically a lender establishment fee, a PPSR registration fee, and on some lenders a monthly account fee. Every one of them appears in the disclosure statement you get before you sign, and we will walk you through it. If a number in that document surprises you, we have not done our job.
